Curriculum at Citipointe

Citipointe’s hallmarks of faith, care and academic challenge remain strong as Secondary students progress through their years of study.

Through well-developed curricular programs, we give students every opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the world beyond.

A proud history of nation-leading results

Citipointe is synonymous with academic excellence, as the results of many of our Year 12 cohorts across the decades prove.

In 2020, 33 Year 12 students achieved ATAR scores of 90-99.9.

Academic competitions

We have long-established primacy in many of Australia’s leading academic challenges.

Our Year 11 and 12 team, for example, were winners in the hotly-contested Bond University’s National High School Mooting Competition.

Likewise, we regularly excel in national Maths, English and STEM competitions.

Every pathway to success

We encourage every student to press towards their future careers and further study in the way that best suits them by developing a Senior Education and Training plan.

Year 11 and 12 students can follow three pathways.

An academic pathway sees students choose six ATAR subjects, which enables them to access the tertiary course of their choice.

Through a blended pathway of ATAR subjects and vocational courses, students can progress towards further study at TAFE or university, or gain direct access to the workforce.

Careerstart students study vocational subjects only, leading to traineeships, apprenticeships, work and further TAFE study.

Our accredited VET subjects are broad, including live production, tourism, kitchen operations, hospitality and business administration.

Students can also undertake school-based traineeships and can attend TAFE offsite while studying at Citipointe.

“I didn’t know a lot about local schools when we were moving here and so one of the main things I looked at were Citipointe’s academic results.”

Learning extension

All of our Secondary students benefit from differentiated classrooms, where teachers are alert to their unique learning styles and seek out ways to improve their learning.

For students with exceptional learning abilities, we offer XP (Extra Potential) classes that enhance specific gifts and talents.

These students also tap into Citipointe’s extensive networks to enable them to gain global experiences and early access to university courses as part of Year 11 and 12 study.

Learning assistance

Through strategies including curriculum modification, individual tuition and classroom withdrawal, Citipointe helps students who need support with their learning.

As a culturally diverse community, we also provide extensive assistance to students who speak English as an Additional Language.

College Academy

Citipointe has a dedicated tutoring academy for Secondary students, staffed after school by Citipointe teachers, alumni and tutors.

Any student who wants additional support can access the Academy on a fee-for-service basis for topics including mastering subject content, increasing grades, managing time and study skills, and improving their English language abilities.
